Welcome to Estacada Junior High
Estacada Junior High School is committed to doing whatever it takes to create the conditions where all members of our school community feel secure, take personal responsibility for their choices, develop good citizenship, and strive to achieve their highest potential. We are proud that Estacada School District does not discriminate against an individual's race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, age or disability.
A Bundle of Good Things Happening!
* Homework Club is now offered Monday - Thursday for 2 hours each day. Bussing is available to all students who sign up in advance. You can get sign up information at the office.
* Our Valentine's Day dance is a "more" formal event than the usual dance. Boys are asked to wear a collared shirt of some kind (clean, pressed jeans are just fine). Young ladies are asked to wear dresses with straps, or to wear a shoulder shrug if the dress is completely strapless. Please remember that modesty is our guide: if a teacher or administrator at the school would look inappropriate wearing the clothing, it's an outfit inappropriate for a student.
The dance takes place on Saturday, February 13 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
* Our TAG Parent Group is hosting an event for students that also serves as a fund-raiser. For $25.00, students get to spend the night at EJHS on 2/26 from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. We'll provide meals every two hours, a variety of activities, and 10:1 student to adult supervision. (We are needing volunteers - please email me if you're interested).
Students are eligible to attend IF they have all assignments turned in AND have no referrals that have lead to in school or out of school suspension (in the 30 days before the event).
Look for more information as well as a volunteer sign up sheet at conferences. Also, please review the letter from Ms. Pittioni in the "Principal's Perspective" accessible from the "Parent Resources" link in the menu at left.
Conferences Coming Wednesday, February 3rd & Thursday February 4th
ARENA STYLE CONFERENCES
are open to everyone. All teachers will
have a station in the hall by their classroom. Wednesday February 3rd conferences are from 4-8PM and Thursday
February 4th they are from 8:30-11:30AM, 12:30-4:30PM and
5:30-8:30PM. Conferences are an important time to connect
with your students’ teachers and review goals and grades. Please plan to attend at the time above that
is most convenient for you. Remember, Wednesday, February 3rd is a regular school day for students followed by conferences from 4PM to 8PM. Thursday, February 4th has conferences from 8:30AM to 8:30PM and NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS. Friday, February 5th is NO SCHOOL FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS.
Ongoing Community Support Activities
EJHS has committed itself to helping the Estacada Food
Bank. Every Tuesday and Friday we send
3 students to the Food Bank to help stock shelves, re-package food, and unload
shipments from the Oregon Food Bank. Our student volunteers come from a group of over 30 students who have
signed up to participate. This is our 2nd
year of providing student volunteers to the Estacada Food Bank and we are very
proud of how the ranks of students wanting to participate have swelled. They are learning that giving back to their
community feels good.
In addition to the student volunteers, we have
launched our Perpetual Support Program. This program recognizes that we have hungry families in our community
all year long, not just during the holidays when food drives have traditionally
been run. We ask that students and
community members, who are able to do so, bring in non-perishable food items, toiletries,
and pet foods to the Junior High so that we may take these much needed supplies
to the Food Bank. With all of us working
together we can make a huge difference. Many of our students already feel the satisfaction and warmth that comes
with helping others. Feel it for
yourself by donating to our Perpetual Support Program
.
Donate to Educate
For some time now we have registered with the Donate 2 Educate organization. Donate 2 Educate provides dissemination of specific needs of a classroom out to the greater public. They have also partnered with our own Estacada Community Foundation in order help generate even more support. This is accomplished primarily through their website; www.donate2educate.com We encourage you to visit the site and, at the very least, explore the needs of your school. It's amazing how little it really takes, sometimes, to make a big difference.
Super Easy JH Fundraiser!
Ms. Wood, one of our outstanding math instructors, has found a super easy way for all of us to help support EJHS! Keep reading to find out how you can help! The fundraiser is called "Goodsearch.com". It is a web search engine. Every search that is made in the name of the Jr. High results in approximately a one cent donation. In addition, if internet purchases are made through goodsearch, up to 5% of what is spent is donated back to the school! When you use goodsearch to make purchases, you DO NOT end up getting spammed with information from the stores.
This is what you do: go to www.goodsearch.com and enter Estacada in the spot where it asks which charity you are supporting. Click on verify and the Jr. High should appear in the box. Then just search. So far, we have made $6.09 with very little effort and only a few people using it! There is a lot of information at the website if you have any questions. It is easy to make goodsearch your default search engine and it will automatically come up when you sign on the internet. Please give it a try and tell your friends!
