Horticulture Classes worked with SOLV during Trimester 1 2008 helping to restore Wade and Currin Creek on campus



            





Students also participate in many hands-on projects while in class. For example, students learn how to propagate both vegetable and annual plants. They also learn how to analyze soil, graft and take cuttings.




    

  


Horticulture students also study the basics of landscape design. As their final project, they are assigned an area of campus to incorporate into a creative landscape. The areas assigned can be seen below:





Check out one of the proposed designs........this class did a wonderful job!!



In the Fall 2008, a joint effort among horticulture students and FFA members will result in the re-landscaping of the old day care area of the high school. Funds for this project are being provided through a Toolbox for Education grant from Lowes. Preliminary plans for this site were developed by horticulture students in the fall 2007.
